Daughter Pleads Guilty To Marrying Her Biological Mother. . . Who Was Also Married To Her Son

You would be forgiven for thinking this is a fake news story.

Sadly, it is not.

Misty Velvet Dawn Span from Oklahoma has been given 10 years probation this week. She confessed to having a sexual relationship with her 44-year-old mother that even led to marriage.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to incest in Stephens County, Oklahoma, on Tuesday after the sick affair was uncovered. 

Her mother, Patricia Ann Spann, 44, lost custody of her daughter and two sons when they were kids.

They were then adopted and raised by their paternal grandmother.

Patricia reunited with Misty in 2014.

Instead of showering her daughter with gifts and apologies for the years missed – Patricia started talking about adopting a child with Misty. 

By March 2016 they were married.

It is alleged that Patricia convinced her daughter that they weren’t violating the law by being together. 

Then just a few months later, in September 2016, the two were charged with incest after a DHS child welfare worker discovered the relationship. 

In Oklahoma, incest is a felony crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison. 

Misty decided to take a plea deal, after admitting to the crime in exchange for a lighter sentence. 

She will now be on probation for 10 years and must undergo counseling. 

Patricia has pleaded not guilty to the charge, but has not yet appeared in court yet. 

Her case has been delayed to February, reportedly so that she could undergo surgery.

But if that’s not bad enough Patricia’s twisted mind led to her marrying another one of her children.

She married one of her sons, Jody Calvin Spann, in 2008. 

KSWO reports that Patricia told investigators her relationship with her son was not sexual.

She claims she married him to prevent him being deployed to the military. That marriage was annulled two years later by the son, on the basis that it was incestuous.

Patricia and Misty’s marriage was also annulled last month.

Misty told the court she only consented to getting married after her mother convinced her it was legally okay.  

Patricia then made a feeble attempt to get out of trouble. 

She claimed her research led to her believing the marriage was legit as her name is not on Misty’s birth certificate.

(Never mind that she gave birth to her.)

Misty and Jody’s brother Cody Spann told KSWO that his mother manipulated both his sister and brother into marriage.

‘I think she’s worthless she put my sister into this. She forced my sister into this, there’s a lot of people that know it,’ he said.

‘For you to want to put your own daughter through this, what kind of person are you?’

‘If that’s what you want that’s on you, but none of us kids want that, and now you got my sister behind bars because of your choices, why don’t you let that sit on you as a mom.’
