Justin Theroux, 46, and Jennifer Aniston, 49, released a statement on Thursday announcing their intention to divorce.

They had been together for four years before their wedding, which took place at their Bel Air mansion in 2015.

The pair stated they would have handled their separation privately, but “given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.”

“This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year,” the statement read.

“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”
