Bryshere Gray has been arrested in Chicago, Illinois, for “driving-related offenses.”
According to TMZ, the Empire star was reportedly pulled over on Thursday whilst driving his 2014 Rolls-Royce.
Gray — who portrays the youngest Lyon brother Hakeem —was discovered to be driving with tags to the vehicle that didn’t match.
Upon further investigation, authorities found that the actor/rapper was driving without a license or insurance.
Bryshere was booked on a misdemeanor for registration that “was not authorized on the vehicle.”
Bryshere has starred on the hit FOX program Empire for its entire run. He plays the son of Oscar-nominated actors Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.
Gray is also known for his portrayal of Michael Bivins in the BET miniseries The New Edition Story.
Empire is currently in its sixth and last season after Fox canceled the series.
Co-creator Lee Daniels has partially blamed the cancellation on the arrest of actor Jussie Smollett according to Vulture.
Smollett played middle son Jamal Lyon on the drama series. The actor made headlines after he was arrested and charged with lying to authorities about a racial and homophobic incident earlier this year.
Smollett was indicted on February 20, 2019, for disorderly conduct consisting of allegedly paying two Nigerian-American brothers to stage a fake hate crime assault on him.
Smollett’s defense team reached a deal with prosecutors on March 26, 2019, in which all charges were dropped.
But on March 27, 2019, it was announced that the FBI would be investigating as to why the charges were dismissed.
On April 30, 2019, it was announced that although Fox Entertainment had extended Smollett’s contract for the sixth season of Empire, there were no plans for the character to appear.
Deadline reported that the cast and crew of Empire are standing by Jussie and wrote and open letter lobbying for him to be back for the final season.
