Racism is antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.
These acts of antagonism have always existed since the beginning of time.
In recent years, however, with the advent of the internet, they have become public knowledge and widespread.
Luca Traini
In a blatant act of racism, a twenty-eight-year-old Italian man opened fire on Africans in Italy this past weekend.
The attack was unprovoked according to authorities who have since apprehended the Italian man.
Luckily, no casualties were recorded following the hate crime, however, six African immigrants were injured.
The startlingly unfortunate incident took place in the Italian city of Macerata about one hundred and twenty-five miles east of Rome.
The suspected shooter Luca Traini has been arrested by the police.

Local newspapers report that an Italian flag was draped over his shoulders like a cape when he was arrested in the street.
A loaded, functional pistol was also found in his car which was parked a few streets away.
Marcello Mancini, a resident of Macerata who witnessed the shootings mentioned that Luca Traini was specifically targeting black people.
He said,
‘He drove around in his car and when he saw any colored people he shot them’.
Hours before the shooting, chaos had reigned supreme in the city of Macerati with a spate of drive-by shootings.
The drive-by shootings caused injuries with all casualties being foreign citizens.
Following the drive-by shootings, authorities had advised residents of the city to remain indoors due to the seemingly random shootings.
The ruling center-left Democratic Party (PD) said the suspect had emerged as an aspirant for the right-wing Northern League at local elections last year.
The ruling party also accused him of opening fire on one of their offices in Macerata before he was arrested.

Reports by local newspaper Corriere della Seraod mentioned that only one woman was among the victims and that the shootings took place at 11 am.
One of the six victims was seriously hurt and needed surgery while there are no further details on the status of the other victims.
Although racially charged, Mr. Traini’s actions are believed to be a response to the death of eighteen-year-old Pamella Mastropietro.
Young Pamela was discovered cut up and hidden in two suitcases.
A Nigerian migrant has since been arrested in connection with the death hence Mr. Traini’s attacks on black people.

Macerata Mayor Romano Carancini said,
‘They were all of color, this is obviously a grave fact. As was grave what happened to Pamela. The closeness of the two events makes you imagine there could be a connection’.
The Nigerian who was arrested is named Innocent Oseghale and according to immigration services, he was not supposed to be in the country.
Innocent Oseghale was denied asylum last year but had remained in Macerata to appeal against the decision.
The discovery has provoked outrage from the opposing party.
Northern League leader Matteo Salvini had released a scathing indictment on Facebook accusing the center-left government of laxity in Ms. Mastropietro’s death,
He wrote,
‘What was this worm still doing in Italy? The left has blood on its hands’.
