The Formation singer has been confirmed to play Nala in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King film.
Disney took to their Twitter account on Wednesday, to announce the cast of the highly-anticipated film.
The new Lion King will premiere in cinemas sometime in summer 2019.
Beyonce will be in good company as the star-studded cast includes Donald Glover – who will take on the role of titular role of Simba.
Tony award winner James Earl Jones will be reprising his role as Simba’s father Mufasa.
Jones voiced the same role in the 1994 Oscar-winning film.
Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor will be taking on the role of Simba’s villainous uncle Scar.
Alfre Woodard – who was nominated for an Oscar in 1984 for her role in Cross Creek – will be playing Simba’s mother and Mufasa’s wife Sarabi.
Seth Rogen will voice warthog Pumbaa in the new version of the classic film, set to be released in 2019.
Pumbaa’s meerkat sidekick Timon will be played by Billy Eichner.
Rounding out the confirmed cast is late night talk show star John Oliver as Zazu.
Jon Favreau who directed live-action/CGI film The Jungle Book last year starring Idris Elba, will be directing the film.
