Every new mom will know the struggle to lose weight after the birth of their little darling.
But instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new gym membership, a savvy mom has lost an incredible 60lbs using her baby as her workout buddy.
Danielle Jones, 32, from Atlanta, Georgia, was feeling self conscious after piling on the pounds while carrying her daughter Honor.
But has managed to drop an impressive two dress sizes.
Danielle regularly trains alongside her two year old daughter – doing sit-ups, push-ups and even weightlifting.
After gaining 54lbs and going up three dress sizes before Honor’s birth in September 2014, personal trainer Danielle started exercising at home.
But her mini – me began to notice and began copying her moves.
Now little Honor enjoys their routines so much she often reminds her mother that ‘We haven’t worked out yet’.
Danielle said: ‘When I started losing weight, I said [to Honor], “You did this to Mommy.” She made me gain weight while I was pregnant, so she had to help me lose it.’
‘We were always together so I thought, I’ll do this with her there, and I’d go to the gym and have her there in her car seat.
‘At first she’d barely move, but then I noticed her crawling and she started to copy me.’
‘She was trying to mimic me doing push-ups and leg lifts. I noticed she was trying to push her body up. Now it’s playtime for her. She doesn’t realize she’s working out.’
During her first pregnancy, Danielle admits that she binged on cookies and ice cream and gained 54lbs in total.
When Honor was born, Danielle was a US 8-10. After giving birth, she tried dieting, but when she found she couldn’t produce milk for Honor, she stopped until her daughter was 10 months old.
Instead, Danielle started working out at home with Honor. As Honor got older Danielle found she was able to do more and more with her.
She said: ‘At first Honor couldn’t do any exercises, but as she got stronger, by one she could hang from the pull-up bar, and now she does push-ups, sit-ups, every exercise I do.’
‘She doesn’t always do them correctly, or multiples of them, but she does them, and we work out about five times a week. She lifts 2lb weights too.’
Now Danielle, who has dropped back to her pre-pregnancy dress size – a size 4 – and says it’s actually Honor who makes sure they work out every day.
‘We work out every morning or evening for 20 to 30 minutes,’ Danielle said.
Honor loves it so much she’s even gone from playing with her dolls in the background, to getting them involved in their routines.
‘She’ll have her Disney princess do something then she will,’ laughed Danielle.
