Robin Denson should have been spending New Year’s Day with her family.
But instead, the tearful mom spoke at a press conference pleading for her 26-year-old son to turn himself into the cops.
Marlin Larice Joseph, is the man authorities believe is responsible for the murder of Denson’s 36-year-old girlfriend Kaladaa Crowell and her 11-year-old daughter Kyra Inglett.
Now, just a day after Denson’s emotional plea, police say they have arrested her son.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV, officials from U.S. Marshals said Marlin Joseph was caught in Lantana. His capture came soon after West Palm Beach Police Department announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Last Thursday, horrified neighbors heard gunshots from the victims’ home at 822 Third Street in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Kaladaa Crowell died at the scene, while her daughter Kyra was pronounced dead on Friday morning at a nearby hospital.
Denson was Crowell’s girlfriend and Inglett was her stepdaughter.
Police say Joseph fled the scene in a 2012 gray Toyota Camry that belonged to Crowell.
Investigators say they believed the incident to be a ‘domestic dispute’ that turned deadly.
‘Marlin, son, I love you… You know I love you, but please, turn yourself in. If you’re scared to do so, call me,’ Denson said at a press conference Monday afternoon with police.
Joseph has a history of domestic violence, and spent time behind bars previously for for ‘lewd behavior’ toward a 13-year-old girl in a 2013 incident, according to the local newspaper.
Denson said that, aside from her son’s mistakes, he was a ‘good kid’ who ‘read the Bible every day.’
She cried as she talked about her wonderful partner and stepdaughter.
Denson described Kyra as the ‘sweetest’ girl who would ‘give the shirt off her back to help anybody.’
‘I want justice. I love my son, but I loved Kyra and Kaladaa, too,’ Denson said tearfully.
