Makeva Jenkins inspired many with how she was was able to transform her life.
In just two years, she managed to go from homelessness to earning a six figure salary.
But tragedy struck in June this year when she was shot and killed.
Now her husband, Euri Jenkins, has been charged in connection with her murder.
But the 31-year-old maintains his innocence.
Makeva was gunned down with a single bullet to the head.
The gruesome murder occurred just yards from her children, at around 2am at her home in Lake Worth, Florida on June 29.
She died in the hospital later that day.
Her death came soon after the mom-of-three wrote a Facebook post detailing how she was earning an sizeable salary.
The 33-year-old founded The Prime Enterprise group, which is dedicated to helping small business owners.
She wrote in what would be her final post, how ‘in awe,’ she was at how far she had come in life.
Her family was initially worried that the post lead to her death.
‘We overcame being homeless in 2013/2014 to reaching my six figure mark in 2015 to now making multi six figures,’ she wrote.
‘No matter what the road looked like, I followed my heart and stuck with it growing my business.’
According to police, Makeva answered the door to a masked man.
When she was shot at least two of her three children were in the adjoining room.
Thankfully they were not hurt.
There were also two other adults being held at gunpoint with Makeva, but only she was shot.
Police said the suspect fled in the family’s white Dodge Charger.
It was later found abandoned a mile away.
At first it looked like Makeva had been the victim of a tragic home invasion.
In August her family held a press conference and desperately begged anyone with information to come forward.
Makeva’s husband did not attend the conference.
It later emerged that he allegedly had been seeing another woman behind his wife’s back for years. The woman reportedly has a five-year-old son by him.
In September authorities charged 20-year-old Joevan Joseph with first-degree murder in her death.
He has remained in jail and without bail since September 2.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Joseph was a customer at Euri’s barber shop.
Euri and Makeva were married in 2011.
