In anticipation of the release of The Lion King in just two weeks’ time, Disney India has released the names of key members of the cast in its Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu language versions of the film. The film will be released on the 19th of July in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. For the Hindi dub, Shernaz Patel will voice Simba’s mother Sarabi, while Achint Kaur will be one of Scar’s hyena minions Shenzi. The voice-over artist Neha Gargava will voice Simba’s best friend and love interest Nala. These come in addition to Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa, his son Aryan Khan as Simba, Ashish Vidyarthi as Scar, Shreyas Talpade as Timon, Sanjay Mishra as Pumbaa and Asrani as Zazu.
In the Tamil and Telugu versions, Ravi Shankar will voice Mufasa and Siddharth will voice Simba, while Arvind Swamy is the villain Scar. Manobala will be Zazu, Aishwarya Rajesh is Nala, Singampuli is the meerkat Timon and Robo Shankar will be the warthog Pumbaa. In the Telugu version, Nani will be Simba, Babu is Scar, Ali is Timon, Padma Shri will be Pumbaa and Lipsika is Nala.
It comes as Disney India previously announced that playback singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Armaan Malik would offer their voices in the Hindi soundtrack of The Lion King, as Nala and Simba, respectively.
The original English-language version of The Lion King remake features the voice talents of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Kani as Rafiki, and John Oliver as Zazu, in addition to Florence Kasumba, Eric Andre, and Keegan-Michael Key as Scar’s hyena minions Shenzi, Azizi and Kamari, and Amy Sedaris as an elephant shrew, a new character.
