R Kelly’s Crisis Manager Resigns Just Hours After Admitting He Would Not Let His Daughter Be Alone With The Singer 

He has been defending R. Kelly in the media as his personal crisis manager.

But Darrell Johnson has now stepped down from his position, citing “personal reasons.”

His decision to quit came after he admitted he would not let his daughter be alone with the singer. In a text to CNN, Johnson confirmed he was leaving the role. 

“Mr. Kelly is in good hands with Mr. Greenberg!” he wrote referring to Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg. 

Johnson was hired by Greenberg to be Kelly’s spokesperson.

Last month, the singer pleaded not guilty to 11 new felony counts of sexual assault and abuse, after state prosecutors expanded an indictment against him.

Those charges against Kelly, 52, stem from the sexual abuse of Jerhonda Pace, then a minor, that allegedly took place in 2010.

Greenberg said in a statement that Johnson still shares his confidence in R. Kelly’s innocence.  

He also thanked Johnson for his “tireless assistance.”

On Monday, Darrell Johnson appeared on CBS This Morning with Gayle King to discuss R Kelly’s  upcoming trial. 

At one point, he even admitted he would not leave his own daughter alone with the singer. 

“You have a 20-something-year-old daughter. Would you allow her to be alone with R Kelly,” asked King.

“Absolutely not,” responded Johnson.

“I would not leave my daughter with anyone who’s accused of pedophilia.”

King then tried to get Johnson to name Kelly specifically in his response. However he refused to name the “Bump & Grind” singer.

“I would not leave my daughter with anyone that’s accused of being a pedophile. I would not,” Johnson stated.

King then asked Johnson for his response to the many accusers who have come forward and accused Kelly of forcing them into sex acts.

“You have so many women who have come forward and telling the same story for a long period of years. Are all the women not telling the truth?” asked King.

Johnson stated he would never call another person a liar, then explained: “I came on seven months ago. I walked into a front door, and I seen Mr. Kelly being a normal person.”

Johnson later expressed concern for Kelly though, explaining: “When you’re in the state of mind Mr. Kelly is in right now, any person, including myself and you, would probably want the authorities be cautious of what has taken place.”

Johnson was then asked if the singer is on suicide watch.

“I would assume that he is,” said Johnson.

“Nobody wants to be locked down 24 hours, no TV. He can’t read and write, so he can’t read a book. It’s almost as if he’s already been, that a jury has convicted him.”

Federal prosecutors claim they are in possession of three tapes which show the singer raping a girl age 14.

They also revealed the Grammy-winning artist subjecting her to “sadomasochistic abuse”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Angel Krull then made a point of stating: “There is no question that it is the defendant on these videos.”

Prosecutors also said that the victim’s age is said fifteen times on one of the rape tapes.
