When we send our kids to school, our only wish is that they learn to the best of their ability.
We also hope that educators teach our children to the best of their knowledge. So it’s these kind of stories that put a shudder through the shoulders of every parent.
A former school assistant has been charged with assaulting 42 boys and even trying to give some of them HIV.
Carlos Bell, 30, has been indicted on 206 counts including child pornography, sexual assault and attempted transfer of HIV.
The young pupils he has been charged with abusing range from 11 to 17.
The disgusting assaults occurred from May 2015 to June 2017 at the Benjamin Stoddert Middle School in Waldorf, Maryland.
Bell was also a track coach for La Plata high School and an employee at JP Ryon Elementary in Waldorf and McDonough High School in Pomfret.
Police received a tip from a parent alleging that Bell was engaging in inappropriate behavior with one of his students on the track team.
‘A parent observed suspicious text messages on a child’s phone that were sexual in nature,’ Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry said.
After his arrest, Bell admitted to law enforcement officials that he was HIV positive.
Police reportedly found child porn on his computer, including images of him allegedly having sex with a boy inside a classroom at Benjamin Stoddert.
Parents whose children may have come into contact with Bell are being encouraged to come forward to authorities.
Charles County Superintendent Kimberly Hill previously said in a statement: ‘In an organization that is all about our children, these allegations are horrifying.’
‘To our parents and our community, who put their faith and trust in us to safeguard their children, I apologize on behalf of Charles County Public Schools.’
