Texas Woman Charged With Shooting Her Sleeping Boyfriend And Dismembering His Body While Daughter Was Nearby

They say ‘nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.’ But this act of utter barbarity is nothing short of inhumane.

A woman from Texas has been charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend in the head as he slept.

Investigators then believe Cierra Sutton, 30, dismembered 32-year-old Steven Coleman’s body with a machete.

Investigators say the horrific murder happened after an argument in their home at the Briarwood Village Apartments in suburban Houston on August 16.

According to court documents, after Sutton callously butchered her boyfriend’s body, she tossed the remains in several different dumpsters around town. 

Investigators say Sutton confessed to the murder to several of her friends, telling them she cut up her boyfriend’s body because it was too heavy to carry whole.

Sutton allegedly told her confidants that her 10-year-old daughter was sleeping on the couch inside the apartment at the time of the killing and dismemberment, according to KHOU.

Two days after she slaughtered her lover, Sutton reported her boyfriend missing at the local police station.

While police were searching for Coleman, Sutton played the frantic girlfriend when speaking with his family.

Meanwhile she used the dead man’s credit cards to make purchases, including duct tape and a mattress pad, reported the station KTRK.

Then on August 22, the gruesome discovery of a man’s torso was recovered from a landfill in Baytown.

The description matched that of Steven Coleman. 

At that point Sutton stopped cooperating with police.

Unable to locate her, police executed a search warrant at Sutton’s apartment.

They found blood all over the unit, including in the bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen.

More blood was later found inside Sutton’s Jeep, according to police.

According to court records, a long-time friend of Coleman’s told a detective that he warned her on many occasions that if he were to ever go missing, police should consider Sutton a suspect, reported Baytown Sun. 

In her quest to evade justice, Sutton fled to Metairie, Louisiana. But authorities apprehended her and she was arrested on Thursday.

Sutton remains at the Jefferson Parish Jail in Louisiana without bond, pending her anticipated extradition to Texas.
