Grandmother Refuses Surgery For Her MELTING Face That Caused Her To Go Blind Because She Fears Death

These pictures are undoubtedly shocking.

But for Wiang Boonmee it is the hallmark of a debilitating condition.

The Thai grandmother lives with a rare condition that is literally melting her face.

But she is refusing surgery out of fear that it will kill her. The abnormal growths have already caused the 63-year-old her to lose sight in both eyes.

It has caused her nose and mouth to twist out of shape so much they hang off her face.

Wiang has suffered with the condition for decades after developing it as a child.

But Wiang has not let her growths stop her from earning a living.

She has moved to Bangkok where she sells accessories on the street in the city centre.

The mom-of-one is originally from rural Surin. Her case has attracted numerous doctors who are willing to try and help Wiang.

But she refuses to be operated on because she is scared that she will die during surgery.

Wiang is believed to be suffering from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on nerve tissue.

Wiang, who is also a grandmother of two, said: ‘I have had this problem for a long time. More than I can remember. I have survived and I’m healthy and have a job.’

‘If I have an operation I might never wake up. I’m afraid I would not survive it.’

‘My daughter brings me here so I can sell flowers and camphor oils. I am happy and somebody gave me a donation this week, which I’m grateful for.’

Dr Sunura Ourairat, President of Rangsit University, visited Wiang on the street on Friday and offered her medical help.

He has asked for assistance from the Ministry of Public Health and asked for doctors to visit her.
