K. Michelle’s career has been going from strength to strength in the past few years.
Her third studio album More Issues Than Vogue peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200. She also signed a lucrative contract with Jack Daniels to be the face of their Southern Peach cocktail.
Her success has been in part due to her close connection with her fans. Just a few days ago the Memphis native took to Twitter to provide some insight on her personal life.
The 33-year-old revealed she has a 50/50 chance of being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus.
According to the “Can’t Raise a Man” singer, she learned of the potentially life-threatening condition by a fertility doctor.
The doctor also revealed that she would no longer be unable to conceive children naturally.
“I was devastated for 2 weeks,” K. revealed in a series of tweets. “Then [I got] a call from my OBGYN saying that if I have twins they would not be full term because of my size and health. Literally I was so broken.”
The strong Christian placed the blame on herself, claiming to have felt like she was being punished by God for having an abortion several years ago.
The singer who has a teenage son, admitted she went through “two weeks of misery.”
But then out of the blue a doctor called saying they has found the “perfect surrogate” to carry her twins.
Earlier this year on her VH1 reality series show K. Michelle: My Life, the ‘Not A Little Bit’ discussed her longing for two twin girls with her fiancé Dr. Kastan Sims.
K. revealed that she has already decided on names for her little girls ― Rainbow and Risa ― and admitted she is very open to genetically modifying their personalities.
