Stunning America’s Next Top Model contestant Renee Alway once featured in the pages of Italian Vogue

But today, the 33-year-old former reality star is in custody in Palm Springs, California. She has been charged in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Alway was seen on the eighth cycle of ANTM created by supermodel Tyra Banks.

She was charged with multiple felonies in the arrest – which included a parole violation. In August of 2018, she was released from California Institution for Women in Chino, California.

The mom-of three has been booked for assault with a deadly weapon, corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, and terrorist threats, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department.

In June 2013, Alway was involved in a standoff with police that lasted six hours. She was reportedly armed whilst in a vacant house.

The Michigan native spent five years of a 12-year sentence in prison after pleading guilty to four felony counts of burglary, vehicle theft and possessing a firearm as a felon.

After her release from prison, Alway admitted to news station KESQ that her drug taking led to her arrest.

“It was bad,” she said. “It took a whole SWAT team to take me down. That’s horrible – horrible.”

In 2015, the former blonde model shocked fans when she appeared in an ABC interview rocking a black buzzcut.

Alway revealed the notoriety and fame she received whilst being on ANTM exacerbated her turbulent private life.

“I felt like a failure because I couldn’t get past the reality TV stigma that had been put on me,” she said, according to ABC News. “And then there’s the pressure of the fans [asking,] “Where are you? What happened?”‘

Alway felt that her time on reality TV was almost like a setup for failure. But the now out and proud lesbian also took responsibility for her decisions.

“There are plenty of girls who were eliminated and they’re doing just fine so, obviously, I made choices that brought me here as well,” she said. 

Alway appeared on America’s Next Top Model in 2007. She finished in third place to winner Jaslene Gonzalez and runner-up Natasha Galkina. She also appeared on the spin-off series Modelville.
