Fun Grandma Wears Colorful Tutu And Dyes Hair For Photoshoot To Celebrate Her 98th Birthday

Gladys Weikle is one amazingly cool grandma! 

The 98-year-old celebrated her birthday last month and decided to live it up in style.

With a birthday bash that would make Beyonce jealous, the fun granny drank Prosecco straight from the bottle with a straw.

Gladys also had an ombre cake, balloons, confetti and rocked an adorable tutu.

With some help from her 29-year-old granddaughter Shannon and a local photographer named Cara McGilvrey, Gladys posed for an incredibly fun and colorful birthday photoshoot.

Gladys celebrated her big day in a local park where she had a blue, purple and pink color scheme.

Two giant silver balloons hung from a table and announced her age. 

Gladys really committed to the colors of the shoot by dyeing her hair in a shocking shade of turquoise. 

‘I was a little overwhelming at first,’ Gladys told BuzzFeed. ‘I thought these are just two kids and they want me to do these stupid things and I’ve got nothing else do to.’ 

Photographer Cara added: ‘At one point, I told Gladys she could just pretend to be sipping on the Prosecco through the straw, but NOPE!’

‘This woman looked at me like I just suggested something completely absurd and she just started sipping away while laughing!’

She also didn’t fake it when it came to eating the confetti cake. 

‘That cake was good!’ she said. ‘I could have eaten the whole thing.’

‘But after quite some time I was tired. And getting grumpy.’

‘We get along so perfectly. Definitely two peas in a pod,’ Shannon told ABC News. ‘She’s quick witted and feisty! ‘

‘We just have so much fun together. Love and light radiate from her, people are always drawn to her.’ 

‘We make friends wherever we go because I think people can sense that she has a lot of love to give.’ 

Though Gladys had some doubts at first about the shoot. 

She said she ‘thought the whole world would think I had gone crazy’ — but trusted her granddaughter and had fun.

‘I’ve been to a lot of great parties, but this was probably the best because I got all the attention,’ she said. 

This isn’t the first time the pair found a fun way to celebrate Gladys’ birthday.

When she turned 95 the granddaughter and grandmother got matching tattoos.

Now Shannon is trying to convince Gladys to go skydiving when she turns 100 in two years.

Shannon added of the pictures: ‘I will treasure these forever because they capture her spirit so perfectly.’ 

The pictures will come in handy as sadly her grandma is not going to keep her turquoise hair.

‘Now my hairdresser wasn’t too happy about what Shannon did to me,’ Gladys said.

‘I asked the hairdresser to put some silver here and there. But you know what? I think it looks gold! What the hell? Why gold? Oh well, it’ll get back to normal soon.’
