Our girl Mary J Blige has been through it.
But what is so inspirational about the R&B icon is that she always comes out swinging.
Blige has become the first person ever to be Oscar- nominated for an acting performance and an original song in a single year.
The ‘Dance For Me’ singer – who already has nine Grammy award – stars as an impoverished farmer’s wife in Mudbound.
She has earned a Best Supporting Actress nod for her role.

Her song, ‘Mighty River’ is a rallying cry against racial division and is a front-runner for Best Song.
Blige co-wrote the song with Grammy-winning producer Raphael Saadiq.

Earlier in the month the Queen of Hip Hop Soul received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – it also happened to be her 47th birthday.
She revealed to the crowds that she was homeless just a year ago after a messy divorce with her ex-husband Kendu Issacs.
Her manager Jimmy Iovine let her stay at his Malibu mansion.
“God gave me the strength to keep steppin’ and keep my head up regardless of what anybody thought about me, regardless of what anybody said about me,” Mary said tearfully.
“I see myself clear and it’s not all pretty, but I accept the beautiful mess that I am because it’s an imperfect me, still learning, still growing, still Mary though.”
It’s definitely a better year for Mary after winning rave reviews for her role as Florence Jackson in the Netflix film Mudbound.
She has been nominated for both a Critics’ Choice Awards and a Golden Globe.
