Meet The Amputee Who Was Given Three Weeks To Live And Is Now A Top Model

Be prepared to be completely inspired by fashion blogger Mama Cax – who has both the look and the life experience.

The 27-year-old was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer at 14.

She was given only three weeks to live – but through courage and sheer determination she managed to beat the disease.

But sadly this came at a price, as Mama had to have her right leg amputated.

Today, she walks with a prosthetic leg with the help of two forearm crutches.

But the fascinating young woman has not let her disability hold her back. Now she’s a hugely successful beauty and lifestyle blogger writing about travel, food and fashion.

The fashionista has a massive fan base, with over 100,000 followers on Instagram alone. She got the idea to start her blog whilst backpacking through South East Asia back in 2013.

Wring on Instagram she said: ‘Next time you see an amputee my hope is that you wont approach them with a “I will pray for you” or “get better soon.’

‘But you will instantly recognize their potential, not invade their space and therefore will not reach out to “help” without first asking if they need your help.’

The beauty decided to set up a travel blog where she could share her experiences ‘as a woman, as a person of color and as a person with a physical disability’.

“When it [her image] went around on tumblr, the recurring comment was “I’ve never seen a black woman with a prosthetic before.”

And if that’s not enough, she’s also a muse for various fashion labels. ‘Being bionic can’t possibly be boring,’ she says.

‘I’ve made it my personal mission to infiltrate the ‘beauty industry’ – walking down the street with crutches and a prosthetic leg, people often shout ‘you go girl! You’re still beautiful’.

‘STILL? I AM beautiful and I’m here to show you how beautiful I am inside and out.’
