Rapper Remy Ma has been open about her struggles with fertility.
Earlier this year the 37-year-old revealed on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta that she had an ectopic pregnancy.
This is a condition where the baby attaches itself to the fallopian tubes instead of the uterus.
The mom-of-one was able to afford treatment, but realizes that many women simply cannot afford it.
This is why the ‘All The Way Up’ star is setting up a fund to help women who struggle to conceive naturally.
“I’m trying to start my own fund right now,” she said, “so that women who are like me, or have a similar situation to me, but they can’t afford it, could possibly get these procedures done and have children, because as a woman, that’s one of the things that you can do that no other being can do.”
But Remy is scathing in her remarks when it comes to pro-life politicians.
The ‘Shether’ star who is married to fellow rapper Papoose says they are not doing enough to make fertility treatment available on health insurance.
“If you’re pro-life, why would you not set up something so women who can’t conceive and women who want to be to be mothers and women who want to have children can do so?”
Despite her fertility issues, Remy is having an incredible year in terms of her career.
On Sunday she accepted the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award at the 2017 BET Awards.
Remy’s win ended a seven-year streak for her rap rival Nicki Minaj who has won the top honor previously.
Accepting the award for the first time since 2005, Remy Ma showed her gratitude to her friends, family and loving husband Papoose during her speech.
Then, she proceeded to subliminally diss Minaj with a brief rap about the “Anaconda” rapper.
“Y’all b***hes got fat while we starved/Shots in your ass, pads in your bras,” she ferociously delivered to a crowd.
“Y’all some liars it ain’t no facts in your songs/And yeah, that crown is coming back to the Bronx.”
Nicki and Remy have been feuding on and off for over a decade.
They both recently released diss tracks against each other with Remy releasing ‘Shether’ and Nicki delivering ‘No Frauds’ as a response.
