They were once teen sweethearts on the cusp of global stardom.
But on Feb. 8, 2009 an argument between singers Chris Brown and Rihanna turned violent.
Brown physically assaulted his then-girlfriend in Los Angeles after the couple left a star-studded pre-Grammys gala. The photo of Rihanna’s bruised and swollen face made headlines around the world.
Now ten years later Breezy was seen lurking in Rihanna’s comments.
Bad Gal RiRi looked simply sensational in her latest lingerie post for Savage X Fenty. The Grammy-winning artist rocked a black lace matching set while promoting her brand’s launch.
After Brown caught a peep of the Barbados-born beauty he first posted a shocked emoji face.
He then wrote, “I wanna be the lamp.”
Brown then posted a sly-faced emoji.
Chris pleaded not guilty in April 2009 to one count of assault and one count of making criminal threats.
He later pleaded guilty to a felony after accepting a plea on June 22, 2009. The “Undecided” singer received five years of probation and ordered to do community service and domestic violence counseling.
In a two minute video to fans, Chris accepted “full responsibility” for the incident and pleaded for forgiveness from his “deepest regret.”
Rihanna and Chris briefly reunited again in early 2013.
“It’s different now. We don’t have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about sh*t. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that,” the Umbrella singer told Rolling Stone.
But the relationship ended for good a few months later.
The businesswoman has since moved on with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel.
“Rihanna and Hassan are not joined at the hip at all, they spend a lot of time apart but it’s not a sign of trouble,” a source told HollywoodLife.
“She loves that he gives her lots of space and freedom to maintain her own identity and career. He doesn’t put pressure on her the way guys she’s been with in the past have done, she’s entirely free to be herself.”
