Singer Lizzo has revealed that a security guard tackled two members of her staff to the ground.
The “Juice” singer says “hurtful language” was also used just moments after her performance at Summerfest.
The 31-year-old was the headliner on the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse stage on Thursday night.
She described the event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as “the best show ever.”
But things soon took a dramatic turn when she and her entourage were leaving.
She claims that an overzealous security guard “slapped and manhandled” both her hair and fashion stylist.
“Did anybody get footage of the security guard that tackled and attacked my team @Summerfest,: she wrote. “They slapped and manhandled my hair stylist and stylist and I’m out for blood.”
The popular singer uploaded a video of the guard she claims carried out the incident for her 2.3 million followers.
However the “Good As Hell” artist has since deleted it.
Lizzo said she felt her Summerfest performance was tainted by the incident.
“Tonight was beautiful. You are beautiful. But the struggle ain’t over. Racism and bigotry don’t care if you’re a headliner,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Thank you @summerfest. We will be filing a complaint against that bigoted ‘security’ guard and I hope you’ll be cooperative in seeking justice.”
Summerfest issued a statement on Friday on Twitter, promising to conduct a “thorough investigation.”
“Lizzo gave an incredible performance which she now feels is tarnished by events which occurred during the performance,” the statement read in part.
“We do not tolerate racism in any form. We have an experienced crowd management staff who strive to protect performers & fans. While there may be challenges during a performance, we expect those challenges to be handled professionally & respectfully.”
The organization also promised to take “appropriate action” if their investigation concludes the bodyguard was in the wrong.
It is also unclear if Milwaukee police plan to investigate the incident or if charges will be filed.
Lizzo meanwhile is currently en route to the UK, where she will be performing at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.
